The Special Operations Command, comprised of Fire Prevention and Investigations, Public Affairs and the Fire/Emergency Medical Services Training Academy, is responsible for enforcement of fire, explosives, life safety laws and codes, project coordination, and abatement of special hazards; development, administration and delivery of all fire, emergency medical services and rescue curriculum and programs; and provision of community outreach, educational programs and public information about the Fire/EMS Department to citizens, residents and visitors of Prince George ’s County.
Goal
To provide the highest quality service to the citizens, residents and visitors of Prince George’s County, by establishing and maintaining a superior echelon of thoroughly trained and certified personnel.
Through various means of community outreach programs and initiatives, cutting-edge technology, and state-of-the-art equipment, we resolve to respond to and mitigate: special incidents (involving homeland security/terrorism, bombs/bomb threats, and special events); all fire related code enforcement and building inspections; investigation and abatement of fire and explosives incidents; development and delivery of fire and emergency medical services related training curriculum; and coordination and administration of educational programs and fire/injury prevention outreach initiatives throughout Prince George’s County.
