Attorney Visits:

Attorneys may visit their clients at any time, other than during scheduled lockdown periods or emergencies. Attorneys that visit their client at irregular hours will be required to call the On-duty Shift Commander (301) 952-7028, in order to advise of his intent to visit a client. Attorneys will be required to show their bar card or proper identification. If the attorney does not have a bar card, but a valid drivers license, the Reception Officer will check the attorney book located at the Reception Center for official verification.

Attorneys who wish to visit several clients will tell the Reception Officer, who will call all involved housing unit officers, give the names of these clients and make them aware of the pending visit. Attorneys may visit in either the contact or non-contact visiting booths located in the housing units. Attorneys visiting their clients in the Processing Area will use the non-contact visiting booths.

Paralegals:

Paralegals will be approved for attorney visits if it can be verified that they work for an attorney
and that the attorney has requested them to visit a designated inmate.

Bondsmen:

Bondsmen may visit their clients at any time other than lockdown periods or emergencies. They will use the non-contact visiting booths located in the housing units or the non-contact visiting booths in the Processing Area.

Court Designated Visitors to Inmates: (i.e., Circuit Court Mental Health Staff, Parole and Probation, Civil Commitment, other Court Personnel): These professionals will be allowed contact visits with their clients in the contact visiting booths in the housing units to conduct court related interviews.

NOTE: All professional visitors' briefcases will be opened and inspected by the Reception Officer. They will be required to pass through the upright metal detector. They will sign the Professional Visitors' Logbook. The Reception Officer will verify identification and issue a Visitors' Pass (red pass if visiting corridor; blue pass if visiting in Processing Area) before allowing them entry into the facility. If the inmate to be seen is located in the processing area, the professional visitor may use the contact Interview rooms located in the rear of the processing area.
