Employment Services provides a merit-based employment program for the Prince George's County Government and offers services that contribute to the improvement of the professional lives of County employees. This Division is charged with establishing and maintaining an occupational Employment Services system and for overseeing the County's recruitment and employment.

In the Employment Services area, major activities include determining the job class, job title and pay grades for all County positions; administering the County's Salary Plans, performing Employment Services and organizational studies, updating the County Employment Services Plan, developing minimum qualifications for job categories and preparing a variety of technical reports.

The Recruitment area has the most direct contact with the public. Major activities include developing and implementing recruitment strategies and employee selection procedures, advertising for job openings in the County government, receiving, tracking and evaluating job applications, examining applicants and developing certification lists from which agencies select candidates. Prospective candidates may access current job openings in the County and the employment application form through the Employment section of the County's web site.
